Srirangam chitirai utsavam - Kuthiraivahanam
Srirangam Vaiyali
We
(Kanaka Patti, Atthai, Viji chiti, Bhavani, Ananthi, Sudha, myself) went to the vaiyali.
We went in two autos. Once we saw perumal before north chitra veedhi. We got
down. Auto followed us was missed and went to north chitra veedhi.
The
otha kottu (drum beat). The nadaswaram, theevati (fire) holding people. The Elephant
followed by alwar pasurams by devotes. Next
two big umbrellas. Then Lord ranganathan. Lord
Ranganathan was sitting on a golden horse, the Pearl Pandyan Kondai adorned in the head he had sword, javelin and arrows. His right hand shows apaya hasta, his left
hand holding the horse. He was wearing
the Blue color velvet cloth. The bottom orange cloth is aptly fit for
namperumal. We followed ranganathan went north chitra veedhi joined with other
members of our family.
Vaiyali
is performed near ther (chariot). First round namperumal went from north (ther
end) to south side and back 1 time. Then he comes to south side waited for few
minutes... the horse goes back slowly. We are fortunate to witness this. We are
very close to namperumal. The sound of ranga... ranga... from the crowd break
the sky. The ambience takes us to the vaikundam. This time namperumal moves
faster to north side. From there namperumal moved half circle west side then
completely moved to east side again west side again east side like this he
moved approximately 200 meter. It was fest to our eyes. The beautiful display
of namperumal was very nice. The bamboo holding perumal kissed us. My mother in
law, my sisters all fell down due to this.
I Thought namperumal want us to remember this event for long time so he came very close to us. The kudai(umbrella) holder and theevati (fire) holder was also moving with them very fast. Then namperumal moved to north in a straight way. The vaiyali stops the sound of ranga ranga also stops followed by a great applause from the crowd.
