Velliangiri Trip on 13th April 2012

We planned velliangiri for a long time but the lord Shiva wishes to come on this day. We started from the office. We booked one Toyota van to accommodate 7 persons. On the day few persons not come as usual giving some reasons.
We( Ramani, Saravanan, kalanidhi,Balaji, & myself) reached Velliangiri at 8AM. There is no hotel , Toilet & bath facilities. So we came back and had the bath in the kalvai near shiva temple ashram
con
structed by jaggi vasudev. we had a darshan of shiva linga it is very nice. Filled the stomach with pongal vadai in the ashram hotel.
We came back to velliangiri purchased the sticks for all. Then stated walking at 11am. We have to cross approximately 2000 steep steps. Finishing this we lost all our energy. We emptied our water bottles. There is vellai vinayagar temple. The first mountains is end here. Our clock showed the time 1:00pm. We have to walk in vazhukkuparai. Then first sunnai to be crossed. We refilled all our water bottles and had taken the dry fruits brought by us. We reached here at 2.00pm. After this another sunnai we crossed this at 2.45. We reached the third sunnai at 4.00pm this is siddar sunnai. If we clap & tell “aarokara aarokara” the water comes more from the sunnai. After this we have to step up & step down three hills and reach the oodai. The path for this very muddy. Next we have to walk the last hill this will test our patience in some rocks we have to crawl and cross.no proper path. Most of the route is rocky. Then finally reached the velliangiri top at 7.00pm.had a good darshan of abishkam and returned back at 7.30 pm. reached the bottom at 4.00am in the next day morning. After this we come to the conclusion like this. Easy to tough 1. Ahobilam hill. 2. Saturagiri 3. Parvathamalai – will test your fear factor 4. Velliangiri – you need more energy and stamina.

Pushpa Kujambal Udanurai Singeeswarar Temple at Mappedu
Beautiful temple. From the road we are at the backside of the temple. The car can go in between temple wall & temple kulam to reach the main entrance. In this temple anjaneya is playing Veena. It is very nice.

Thripurandhakeshwarar Shiva temple at Thiruvirkolam (Coovum)
One of the padal petra sthalams.Moolavar is theenda thirumeni. So the linga is not touched by the archakar. Urchavar shiva is like Rama holding bow & arrow. In this temple you can see the ambal sannithi first.then shiva sannthi. In the wall how many acres land belongs to temple and the details about them are mentioned here.

Sri Lakshmi Narasimhar Temple at Narasingapuram
Very famous in this area. On the way to Ilambiankottur this temple is located. So we went had a good darshan. Outside the temple there is kosala. Most of the people purchased agathikeerai for cows. We also did the same.

Deivanayakeswarar Temple at Ilambiankottur.
The main gate is closed. So we dont know what to do. Then we saw a small gate away from the main gate. We just opened the gate and went inside. The archakar home is inside the temple. Once he saw us. He came out and opened the sannithanam doors for us. The dwajasthambam fitted with bells giving the sound when we entered the temple the music was very nice due the wind flow in the open space.
Archakar explained that it is one of the padal petra sthalams.Moolavar is theenda thirumeni. So the linga is not touched by them

Gangadheeswarar Temple at Thakkolam (also called Thiruvooral)
One of the padal petra sthalams. Here there are six other shiva temples near this temple. So people in this area will cover all temples in mahashivarathri day. It is very auspicious to have a darshan of all seven temples in a day. We waited here as the temple is closed. The same archakar is taking care of another temple. So he was not there when we went. So we opened our food packets and eat all the lemon rice & curd rice. Then we waited for some time. Then we thought of going back. We all settled in the car. At that time archakar came told don’t start have a darshan & go. Had a good darshan. It is a guru parihara stalam. Archakar explained the guru it is one the three famous guru parihara stalams.
First our stomachs are filled with food. Now the beauty of the god filled our eyes.
we talked about the Gangasheeswarar karuani of giving the darshan while coming back to home at 2.00 PM.
